 Type the text Cricket is my favorite Game, I played around 500+ local matches in almost every ground in my district. Cricket exist in so early days around 13th century, typically played by farmers and very similar to baseball. The modern cricket started in 1965 and governing body ICC sets standards, appointing umpires, actions against corruption etc. I am planning to blog technology aspect of the modern cricket.

Strike rate = (100 * Runs) / Balls faced
Batting average = runs/(innings - not outs)
Batsman’s value (informal) = runs / innings
etc

bowling:
bowling average = runs/wickets
Economy rate = (6*runs) / balls
strike rate = balls / wickets
etc
Cricket has vast amounts of statistics that are collected from each player, team, game, season etc and its an extremely competitive environment. Hence sports organizations, couches etc want live decision making systems. In modern cricket, there are lots of actions and activities that take place with every deliver of the ball, these activities are recorded with lots of meta data. The meta data is important one, the captain/coach mainly taking decisions based on past statistics, present conditions etc. the meta data includes type of blowing, bowling speed, line of bowl, length of the bowl, type of shot played by batman etc. Coaches are using software to analysis/make decisions from these statistics information using data mining/expert system techniques, they can able to see detailed statistics analysis of player ball by ball. Few of these statistics information is also displayed to viewers during the play in graph formats, current/expected runs etc.
The Meta data also help to determine future projections, for example: ground advantage, past performance, performance at specific venue, performance against specific opposition, typically linear regression model is used with all these variables to determine the probability of the outcome.
Secondly, One of the app I am expecting in web space is ‘personalized web experience’, I haven’t seen any app that offers personalized experience to users. I mean, a system that responds to queries by aggregating information from available resource depends on the user. A bio-query on cricket goes hand and hand (I am not talking about Search engine). Its system which responds to users with personalized information, based on location, preference, etc. the mining techniques could apply are - ‘clustering’ to find natural grouping of users, interest etc.  ‘Association’ to find out relationships, URL to be requested together etc, ‘Sequential analysis’ to find out order of URLs accessed etc

"ICC Cricket World Cup begins later today in the Caribbean, the 16 Participating Nations will be playing for some high stakes. A total of US$5 million in prize money will be up for grabs; the 2007 champions claiming almost half of that, with a winners’ cheque of US$2.24 million to be awarded to the team which prevails in the Final at Kensington Oval in Barbados on April 28.
 
The runners-up will also be rewarded handsomely, receiving a purse of US$1 million for their second-place finish. In addition, the losing semi-finalists will each pocket US$450,000 while the teams ending the tournament in fifth to eighth position – determined by the outcome of the Super 8 phase of the Event – will win the following sums respectively: US$200,000; US$150,000; US$100,000 and US$50,000.
 
During the 24 Group Stage games – which start today with the hosts, West Indies, opposing Pakistan at Sabina Park in Jamaica – the victorious team in each match will receive US$10,000 while the losers get US$5,000.
 
Meanwhile, all Man-of-the-Match winners, as well as the prestigious Man-of-the-Tournament player, will be presented with exclusively-designed crystal ware. ICC CWC 2007 champions and runners-up will also receive gold and silver medallions respectively. "
